Dangerously Delicious Prosecco Margaritas for National Margarita Day

Today is a super special day and worth celebrating. Not only did National Margarita Day fall on Taco Tuesday (which could not be any more perfect), but this very Tuesday is being called Twosday or 2sday because the date is 2/22/22. How cool! People are planning all sorts of celebrations for this day. Over at Naturally Hooked, we thought we would combine our favorite margarita recipe with everyone’s favorite celebrity beverage: Champagne.

Anyone who knows me or those who have been following the Naturally Hooked blog for a while knows that I have a serious love/hate relationship with tequila. Before starting this blog over a year ago, it had probably been 6 or 7 years since I drank tequila. I couldn’t stand the taste or smell of it. However, because I love you guys so much, and you guys love tequila, I have revisited my old frenemy and discovered some delicious recipes that have rekindled my relationship with tequila. We have taken some classic tequila recipes for the last several months and re-envisioned them with new ingredients. I hope you are enjoying the ride.

First up on the list is the classic margarita. I used to adore margaritas, but typically the taste and smell of tequila in this particular drink was a bit of a turn-off for me. I wanted to try and give this drink some zhuzh and keep the tequila from overpowering my senses. The addition of the bubbly Prosecco provides this cocktail with a refreshing and crisp quality that goes down very easily. Be careful with these; they will sneak up on you. The Prosecco also transforms this cocktail into one that could be the perfect addition to a brunch. Whoever thought of margaritas in the morning? Genius, I love it.

If you plan to make this as a batch drink for entertaining, combine all ingredients except the Prosecco. You will want to add the Prosecco as you serve these drinks to your guests so that the cocktails are at their maximum effervescence. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.
